Thermogravimetry (TGA, TG) determines the temperature- and time-dependent changes in the mass of a sample that occur during a specific temperature program and in a defined atmosphere. The respective instrument is called a thermobalance. NETZSCH instruments for thermogravimetry, i.e. the thermobalances, are equipped with digital balance systems, vertically constructed with top-loading sample arrangement and direct temperature measurement at the sample. Almost all models are vacuum-tight. Almost all thermogravimetric analyzers can be equipped with heated coupling adapters for gas analysis systems such as QMS and FTIR. The TG models of the 400-Series can be equipped anytime with DSC and/or DTA sample carriers for full-fledged TG-DSC or TG-DTA instruments (STA).
